The Lounge is at the front of the house and faces west, on clear days we are usually awarded with fantastic views of the sun setting behind the Ardgour Hills.

Please come in and relax after your day out exploring. There are books about the area, maps, novels and a few games.

In November 2018 we ripped out the 1970’s yorkstone fire surround and replaced it with a restored cast iron Victorian fireplace, bespoke mantel piece and bookcase. The fireplace and the tiles show thistles which we bought to match the original coving in the room which is ferns and thistles.

The hearth is Ballachulish slate. We found it buried when we had the garden landscaped. David wanted to make a bench out of it but I thought it would be put to better use in the house!

On cooler evenings we will light the fire and you can cosy up and relax.

The Lounge and Dining Room have decorative plaster coving, the other rooms have just plain plaster coving.

The staircase has decorative wrought iron spindles.

It is interesting to see that the woodwork in Fern Villa looks to be the same design as in other Victorian properties around the area. I wonder if the same craftsman made them all?
