An Torr Signal Rock

An Torr- Signal Rock

An Torr is Gaelic for rocky hill.

About 4 miles away. The carpark for An Torr is off the A82 just before the Glencoe old road turning to the Clachaig Inn.

There are 3 trails - the Blue Trail takes about 45 minutes, the Black Trail is just over a mile and the Yellow Trail 3/4 mile.

Lovely short walks through the trees. Reputed to be a gathering place for the MacDonalds of Glencoe and the place where, according to legend, the signal was given by the Campbells for the Glencoe Massacre. There is an information board in the car park detailing the paths in the woodland.

Also worth a visit when you are in the area is a visit to the Massacre Monument in Glencoe village.  Park in the layby in the village by the war memorial and take the road to the right, after a short distance you will reach the monument.
