An Torr Signal Rock

An Torr- Signal Rock

About 4 miles away from Fern Villa Guest House, the car park for An Torr is off the A82 just before the Glencoe old road turning to the Clachaig Inn.  Or you can drop in while walking the Glencoe Orbital path.

An Torr is Gaelic for rocky hill. There are 3 trails - the Blue Trail takes about 45 minutes, the Black Trail is just over a mile  and the Yellow Trail 3/4 mile.  There is an information board in the car park detailing the paths in the woodland. Lovely short walks through the trees.

Reputed to be a gathering place for the MacDonalds of Glencoe and the place where, according to legend, the signal was given by the Campbells for the Glencoe Massacre.

Also worth a visit when you are in the area is a visit to the Massacre Monument in Glencoe village.  Park in the lay-by in the village by the war memorial and take the road to the right, after a short distance you will reach the monument.

On the now completed Glencoe Orbital Track.
