Dunstaffnage Castle

Dunstaffnage Castle, Dunbeg by Oban

Dunstaffnage Castle is just off the A828 a few miles outside of Oban.

The castle is a stronghold of the Macdougalls built before 1240.  It was captured by Robert the Bruce in 1308.  Flora MacDonald was held at Dunstaffnage in 1746 before being sent to the Tower of London for assisting Bonnie Prince Charlie's escape.
