Jacobite Steam Train

Head to Fort William from Fern Villa Guest House to catch The Jacobite Steam Train which runs a morning service from the end of April to the end of October. The afternoon service runs from the end of April to the beginning of October. Advisable to check their website as dates and times can change.

The journey between Fort William and Mallaig is described as the greatest railway journey in the world, the 84 mile round trip takes you through stunning scenery.

Many of you will recognise the Glenfinnan Viaduct which the Hogwart's Express went over and some of the lochs from the Harry Potter films.

Also in Glenfinnan is the Glenfinnan Monument built in 1815 as a tribute to 'the generous zeal and undaunted bravery' of those Highlanders who 'fought and bled in that arduous and unfortunate enterprise' the1745 Jacobite Rising.

When passing Morar you will see the silvery beaches used in Highlander and Local Hero.
