The Glenelg ferry crossing over to Skye

Glenelg to Skye Ferry

Really travel over the sea to Skye on the little known Glenelg Ferry, the Glenachulish.  At one time this ferry crossed the narrows between Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe before the Ballachulish bridge was built.

Look out for white tailed sea eagles.

Open Easter to mid-October. No need to book.

Check their websites for the timetable.

There is a stunning scenic drive over the Mam Ratagan Pass. In the Glenelg area there are a couple of iron age brochs, ruins of Bernera Barracks and Sandaig where Gavin Maxwell lived and the location in his book Ring of Bright Water.

Glenelg is officially twinned with Glenelg on Mars!
