New Garden Hedge
8th March 2019 We’ve taken the bull by the horns and decided to rip out the leylandii hedge at the front of the house. We have bought multi coloured pyracanthas so that we will get all year round colour, flowers for the bees and lots of nice berries for the birds. It will look a […]
Orchy and Robert the Bruce
4th March 2019 We had a lovely drive through Glen Coe and down Glen Orchy. The River Orchy was in good flow so the rapids and mini waterfalls looked spectacular. We popped in to St Conan’s Kirk on Loch Awe for a look around and enjoyed a nice cup of tea to warm up before […]
Having Fun with Breakfasts
We are having fun coming up with ideas for new breakfast ideas. So far it is a light bite option of a toasted bagel with cream cheese or scrambled egg with smoked salmon. We are also trying to be a bit more adventurous with the Vegetarian/Vegan option. I’ve made a small batch of Turkish Green […]
Feeling Happy
Feeling Happy We were happy to learn from our fishmonger D Watt & Son in Oban that someone has taken over Lochfyne Kippers and is currently being trained by the previous owner. Very relieved to not have to source another kipper for our guests.
Renovations
We’ve had quite a few renovations done in December and January. The lounge has had the old fireplace removed and we now have a restored Victorian one put in. The dining room chairs have been recovered. New beds, carpets, curtains and furniture in Bedrooms 2 and 3. Ensuites ripped out and completely refurbished from floor […]
Merry Christmas
Wishing all our past and future guests a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Pride and Joy
The new cooker arrived in October, it’s David’s pride and joy. Still has new functions for him to explore. I am sure that his porridge will still taste as good as it always has!
Front Door
The front door is original to the house so we don’t want to replace it. After this summers particularly hot spell the door began to shrink and distort slightly. A friend of ours made us 6 sets of mock hinges which he fitted to the door to pull it back into shape. We think he […]
Genealogy, Ancestry and Family History
Who do you think you are? Over the years we have had quite a few people on their ancestry trail. They have been either staying with us or just popped in for tea and biscuits and a chat. With this in mind I have set up a FaceBook page called Glencoe and Ballachulish Genealogy, Ancestry […]

Garden
Our garden was sadly neglected last year so we are pleased to have The Cabin Garden Centre – CGC Landscaping – to come and sort it all out for us. They are starting with the front garden which should be finished within the week. The garden has become over run with bramble so that will […]
